About Us

Geographic location – Headquarters

The company is registered in central Krakow, at 3/3 Friedleina Street. The building housed between 1996-2000 the offices of Management Board and Financial Department.

In the meantime the production facilities and new HQ were built in Trzyciaz, 30km north from Krakow in jurasic landscape forming the nearby Ojcow National Park.

Cable Factory Bitner – origins (1995-1997)

The reasons of foundation of Cable Factory Bitner originate from earlier activity of Mr Jerzy Bitner, who in 1995 ran an installation and trading company dealing with intercoms and alarm systems. It was the time when the market demand was substiantially higher than the supply. Due to often shortages of cables the owner decided to launch production of technologically simple intercom and alarm cables. Cable Factory Bitner was registered in 1996. All the machines in the beginning were 2 extruders and 2 stranders placed in a rented facilities. The same year the company bought in Trzyciaz near Krakow a parcel with production and storage facilities of approx 500m2 and 100m2 of office space. They all needed refurbishment and re-adjustment to cable production requirements.

At the same time first 22 people were employed.

Cables produced in 1996 found quickly wide range of customers dealing with alarm and intercom installations – many of them have been purchasing cables until present day.

In 1997 company launched the production of YnTKSYekw cables for fire alarm installations. The same year Cable Factory Bitner as the first cable manufacturer in Poland obtained a certificate for those cables issued by a governmental body – Scientific and Research Centre for Fire Protection (CNBOP).

Bigger production was followed by increase of employment (40 employees).

Next stage of development: 1998-2000

Due to large market demand for telecommunication cables in 1997 the company launched production of local paired cables (insulated with solid PE)  and switchboard cables for telecom applications. All the profits were invested in new machines (among others a production line for insulating cables with foam PE) which allowed to increase the range of offered cables.

As the cable market adjusted quickly to the new situation and availability of telecom cables was not an issue anymore  the company had to implement new products.  That’s how control and signalling cables were first produced in 1999 (LiYY 300/300V). The same year Cable Factory Bitner implemented also NYY 0,6/1kV power cables and in 2000 LiYCY for electronic and automation industry. Many machines were bought during this time including a state of the art SZ strander in 1999.

In June 2000 the company obtained first Quality Management Certificate ISO9002 issued by KEMA. More investments followed to develop the production range.

In the year 2000 a neighbouring parcel of 0,5ha was bought together with 1000m2 production hall what allowed to double production capacity and develop the machine park. The same year Cable Factory Bitner was employing already 80 people including highly skilled and experienced specialists within production management and technology. In 2001 the dynamic expansion of telecom market stopped and the company was facing another stage of development.

2001-2003

During those years a planned and sustained development continued – based mainly on earned profits and bank loans.
A silicone rubber extrusion line was bought in 2001 which allowed to commence production of silicone rubber  and halogen free compound  insulated/sheathed cables of 300/500V and 0,6/1kV voltage.

In 2001-2002 the company launched the production of data cables as well as coaxial cables for CCTV and cable TV applications.

In January 2003 the new production hall of 1000m2 was ready. A state-of-the-art production line for halogen free, fire resistant cables was installed there together with a line for computer cables twisted in single operation. 400m2 of new office building allowed to improve customer service system (sales department, logistics, technology and marketing departments) and to increase the number of employees up to 130.
Years 2001-2003 allowed the company to gather substantial portfolio of regular key customers, increase the share of domestic cable market and start selling some cables abroad.

In June 2003 the consecutive development of quality control systems was confirmed and Cable Factory Bitner obtained from KEMA ISO9001:2000 and AQAP systems as well as ISO 14001:96

In response to market demand in 2003 a production of selfsupporting aluminium power cables with 0,6/1kV and XLPE insulation was launched.

Years 2004-2006

This is the period of carefully planned  development of Cable Factory Bitner. Sales turnover reached 50M PLN

2 hectares of land and production hall of 3000m2 was bought which at the end of 2006 was enlarged to 8500m2 after re-construction and modernisation.
Machine park was substantially enlarged in 2004-2006 based on earned profits, bank loans and EU funds (PHARE etc). Within this period series of copper and aluminium drawing lines were bought, new stranders, braiders, extruders, lines for shielding cables with copper or steel tapes. All those investments allowed to broaden the product range offered.

Years 2005-2006 were a period when Cable Factory Bitner elaborated technology, performed tests and got certifications for fire resistant signalling and power cables. Two product groups were implemented:

  • based on company’s standard, PH 90 function tested cables according to IES and PN standards, implemented to market based of CNBOP approvals and certifications
  • based on DIN VDE 0266, tested for fire integrity function E30 and E90 according to DIN 4102-12 standard.
In 2006 the employment rose to 220 people and sales revenues more than doubled compared to those of 2004.

Currently (2009)

We have:

  • more than a dozen product groups covering full range of cables up to 1 kV, with plastic or rubber insulation and outersheath
